Abstract

Aim: To use the Key Informant survey to estimate the magnitude and to identify the major causes of blindness and severe visual impairment in children of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. Materials/Methods: Twenty-eight Key Informants were trained and sent into the local government area to identify children with visual impairment. The children were brought in batches to 3 different examination locations on 3 consecutive days. They were examined by the researcher, an optometrist and an ophthalmic nurse. Data were analyzed using simple percentages and proportions.
