Abstract

Aim and Objectives: To assess the prevalence of presbyopia and its impact on the quality of life in Nnobi, Idemili South LGA, Anambra State, Nigeria. Materials and Methods: A population based cross-sectional study of adults aged 30 years and above was conducted. Participants were selected using multistage cluster random sampling technique. A near vision related quality of life questionnaire adapted from the National Eye Institute 25 item visual function questionnaire, was administered to each participant. Ocular examination included the measurement of distance and near visual acuity, refraction and direct ophthalmoscopy. The quality of life scores of uncorrected presbyopes, non presbyopes and corrected presbyopes were analyzed and compared.
