OCULAR FEATURES IN PATIENTS WITH CEREBROVASCULAR ACCIDENT IN A BENIN HOSPITAL

Abstract

Aim: To determine the ocular findings in patients with cerebrovascular disease in the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), as well as finding the cause of visual changes among these patients. Methodology: This study was carried out in the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin City. The subjects were patients recruited from the stroke ward and the stroke clinic being managed by the Neurology Unit of the Department of Medicine, UBTH. All consecutively admitted patients with stroke and all consecutive patients visiting the stroke clinic were recruited into this study until the sample size was met. A total of 85 patients were recruited. For each patient recruited into the study a structured questionnaire was carefully filled by the survey team, then ocular examination was carried out by the researcher. Other investigations were then carried out on the patient.
