Abstract

Introduction: Bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis, are common infectious causes of vaginitis and have been linked to preterm delivery and low birth weight and as well as reproductive tract infections. This study was done to determine the prevalence of bacterial vaginosis and trichomonasvaginalis in sub-rural parturient as well as to evaluate their relation to adverse pregnancy outcome. Materials and Method: Two hundred and sixteen eligible pregnant women had a high vaginal swab between 14 to 26 weeks. A structured interviewer-administered questionnaire was used to collect data from the participants. A wet mount, direct gram staining, whiff test, and routine culture were done.
