Abstract

Hepatitis B infection, endemic in Nigeria, is associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Its mainstay of control is prevention through vaccination as outcome of established cases is abysmal. Vaccination is effective if sufficient immune response is evoked. Cases of vaccine failure abound. Immune response to hepatitis B vaccination may therefore vary from place to place. What the immune response is in Uyo LGA is unknown. Also uncertain are the determinants of such response.
