BACKGROUND: Doppler velocimetry studies of fetal umbilical artery can provide important information regarding fetal wellbeing. The present study was undertaken to determine whether abnormal umbilical artery Doppler waveform is a predictor of perinatal outcome in patients with preeclampsia in the obstetrics and gynecology department of Lagos state university teaching hospital Ikeja, Lagos. METHODS: In this prospective cross-sectional study, abnormal doppler waveforms of the umbilical artery velocity and adverse perinatal outcome of (100) patients with preeclampsia were evaluated after 28weeks gestation.
