Background: Hypertensive disorders in pregnancy are a leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide and are associated with increased risks of perinatal morbidity and mortality, and maternal morbidity. Predictors of fetal outcome in this condition have not been well characterized. Objectives: To compare the serum cord prolactin levels in babies born to mothers with hypertensive disorder of pregnancy and normal pregnancy. Methodology: The case control study was conducted on 104 pregnant women (52 with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy like preeclampsia, PIH and Chronic hypertension and 52 with nonhypertensive pregnancy) who were in their second half of pregnancies. These women were recruited randomly from women admitted into the labor ward of Jos University Teaching Hospital.
