OBJECTIVES: To determine changes in the central corneal thickness of patients undergoing cataract surgery and the length of time it takes their corneas to return to pre-operative thickness value so as to obtain relevant information that will improve cataract surgical outcome in the center. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study was a prospective, hospital based, open within patient controlled study done between November 23rd 2012 to July 19th 2013. Consecutively consenting patients who had cataract and met the inclusion criteria were recruited till sample size was attained. Interviewer administered questionnaire was used. Corneal thickness, refraction and visual acuity measurement were done. The data obtained were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences SPSS version 18. Frequencies, means and standard deviations were generated to observe pattern of variable distribution among respondents. Comparison was done using the variable means of central cornea thickness using paired t-test and Pearson correlation. The time series analysis was also done .The analysis was considered to show statistically significant association when the p-value is less than 0.05.
