Abstract

Aim: To investigate the causes of low vision and blindness among the students of the School for the Blind in the FCT, Abuja and to see if there are treatable causes among them. Materials and Methods: All the students of the school who were present and consented to the study had their demographic and other relevant data collected. They also underwent full ophthalmic assessment including visual acuity assessment, anterior and posterior segments examination, and, where possible, intraocular pressure measurement. Hence both the anatomical and aetiological causes of low vision/ blindness were determined. Subjects with low vision also had low vision assessment.
