Objective: To determine the relationship between visual impairment, depression and quality of life among adult patients attending the Eye Clinic of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. Materials and Methods: A hospital based descriptive non-interventional clinical study was conducted between January and March 2013. Participants for the study were recruited consecutively from patients aged 16 years and above visiting the Eye Clinic for the first time. All consenting patients who met the inclusion criteria had visual acuity assessment and ocular examination done. They were all screened for depression using the Beck’s Depression Inventory 2nd edition (BDI-II), the World Health Organization’s Quality of Life scale - short form (WHOQOL – BREF) was used to measure quality of life and an interviewer semi-structured questionnaire was administered.
