Globally, armed conflicts are on the rise with resultant population displacement with majority of the conflicts occurring in low-income countries. The northeastern part of Nigeria has witnessed a lot of violent attacks and displacement of communities due to the Boko Haram insurgency. Often accompanying this problem is mental distress with post-traumatic stress disorder and depression been the commonest psychological distress reported after exposure to a stressor.
