BACKGROUND: Pregnancy loss is a common obstetric occurrence that is distressing to the mother and the obstetrician. Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome (APS) is a treatable cause of pregnancy loss and can be managed with good outcomes when the diagnosis is made. OBJECTIVE: To compare the levels of antiphospholipid antibodies (APLA) in women with pregnancy loss and normal pregnancy. DESIGN: Hospital based comparativestudy. METHODOLOGY: In this study, 65 pregnant women with a history of pregnancy loss or current pregnancy loss aged 15-49 served as the cases while 65 pregnant women at term with no history of pregnancy loss served as the control groups. The antiphospholipid antibody levels werecompared between the cases and the controls. Subjects were recruited from JUTH Obstetrics and Gynaecology units. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 20, test of association for numerical data was done using t-test and categorical data done bychi square.
